The 4th
I love the 4th of July. The chance to blow lots of crap up to celebrate our great country is a joy to behold. We went to the Aitkin fireworks show last night and I have to say...what a crappy, crappy, crappy display. The fireworks show was BORING!!! I have never been to a boring fireworks show, but last night I had the privilege of seeing my first. The fireworks were not set off boom, boom, boom, one right after another. It was boom, boom, wait one minute, boom, wait another minute, etc. Plus, five or six must have been miss loaded because they did not reach their optimal height before exploding. The great thing about America is that I can sit here and write about how my entertainment did not meet my expectation. The reason for the 4th is to celebrate what an amazing country we live in. Sadly it has become just like Christmas, not a holiday of celebration, but one of self-seeking entertainment that strives to make us feel good about us. I remember the 4th of July as the birthday of our nation, where we declared our freedom. Now, it is a commercialized holiday where people can legally blow crap up. The great thing is that we have the freedom to celebrate, what more can you ask for?
