Giving it up

Have you ever said, "Man, I could never give THAT up!" when describing your favorite thing. It could be coffee, movies, fast food, steak, beer, drugs, or anything else for that matter. If God asked you to give something up, would you be willing to do it?

If you are not a Jesus follower then I am not talking to you because you can do anything that you want. However, if you are a Jesus follower then my question is for you.

We believe that Jesus is the center of how we act, eat, drink, and talk. There are rules that we follow so that our lives don't get flushed right down the crapper. We follow Jesus because when we do we have love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control- in other words, our lives function at a higher level.

What would you give up if God asked you to? God wants your life to be amazing, but if you are not willing to give up something that would be IMPOSSIBLE for you to give up, then you are not following Jesus.

"Follow me and I will make you fishers of men." Jesus challenged the disciples to give up their family and job to follow Him, and they did. God gave up Jesus, His only son. I was asked to give up certain things that were hard to give up, but I did. What do you need to give up so that Jesus can make your life function at a higher level? Find out what that is and then decide to give it up. It could be for a year or forever, but give up the things that God asks you to, even the impossible things.
