A Leader Should Dance

I was reading in 2 Samuel 6 today that David danced and celebrated like a maniac in a mosh pit. This king, this great leader, did not care what the people around him thought of him. He was going to dance and celebrate God. After he had danced and celebrated and made an offering, you know what he did? He blessed the people. This was a leader who worshipped God with ALL of his energy, and from that heart came a blessing for the people.

Of course as soon as someone worships God with everything then someone is going to mock and ridicule. " You look ridiculous, what are you thinking? People think you are a fool!" David's response was amazing,"I don't care what I look like to others, I am going to worship the King of Glory, the Awesome creator, the One and only God who has blessed my life! And these people don't think I am a fool, they give me honor because I worship God like this!"

I want to worship God like that. As leaders we lead the way by worshipping God. We need to stop trying to look good in our worship and we need to start being authentic in our worship. People may think you look foolish, but at that point you are worshipping the creator of the universe, so who cares what they think. Leaders should not be afraid to dance.
