Jesus was a rock star. That statement can be seen two ways.
One: BLASPHEMY! To equate our Lord and Savior with a life style of sex and drugs can only mean that my Christianity is a lie. How in the world can someone say that my Jesus, Savior, friend is a worldly and secular role model? How DARE you!
Two: Right on! Jesus rocked the established viewpoint of religion and told people up front that they had gotten God all wrong. God is not about rules and regulations and following the norm because that is how it is supposed to be done. NO! Jesus told people to get off of their religious high horses and love people where they were. He was a spiritual rock star.
As you may have guessed, I tend to lean towards the latter of these two views. Church sucks! What a motto. If Christians would view church as a sucky vehicle that tries to control how you love people, then they would become more like Jesus.
When I say church sucks, I mean that salvation is not seen in a building. Jesus does not care about stained glass or super spiritual songs about feeling good about God. Jesus cares about people, the good, the bad, and the ugly. It's a shame that more Christians don't view Jesus as a rock star. If I worshiped a Jesus who only cared about how you looked on Sunday's then I would convert to one of the many less strict religions. Luckily I go to a church where the Pastor wears jeans and goes to Foo Fighter concerts. I think the church needs a spiritual enema.
